Background and Font problem with stylesheet
I recently downloaded and installed a layout from [info]butterflybox, but for some reason my journal looks different than what it should.

The rest of the problem )

Any help getting this thing straightened out would be much appreciated.

oy vey.
Okay, so my internet connection is still on the fritz, here's hoping it gets fixed sometime before I'm too old to care. Just know that I'm still alive people :D
This is the first time in a while that I've had a stable net connection so I'm making the best of it, believe me.

Umm, Doctor Who. I know what happens. Seeing as some people in the US on my f-list do not, I hereby zip my lips about spoilers (unless they're in appropriately obnoxiously marked spoiler posts), and ask that your comments reflect the same.

And uhh, SPAAAARKY.
The Big Bang piece is off for this year, but Sammi and I are still gonna try and write it once life stops being so majorly sucky.
Congratulations to the people on my f-list who've already finished (y'all know you you are *silly grin*)
I'm having this crazy urge to run around flailing and shouting Sparky at the top of my lungs, I think it's a combination of stress and exhaustion with a dash of my usual insanity.
My elbow hurts. Stupid golfer's elbow that I still have no idea how I got.

I'm way behind on a lot of shows, I'll catch up at some point I guess.

I haven't gone crazy without the internet, you all know how much I love to read, and how many books are crammed into my room, plus the fact that I live less than half a block from a bookstore. Yeah, you can guess what I've been up to I'm sure.

I think I might've rambled Chelsea to death in a comment earlier, but it's only because I love her.

Ani is indeed the best wifey I've ever had. Admittedly the only wife I've ever had, but you get the point. *gigglesnort* Rest assured I'm not going to run off and elope with the perfect stranger who proposed by email. hehe.

Right then. Are you people still reading this? Gods, you deserve a medal for valor and bravery in the face of terrible things (ie. me in a rambly mood + a shaky internet connection, and did you know that I can type at 71 WPM?) So yep, that's why this post is rather completely rambly and directionless. I'm trying to make sure I get anything important in before the connection drops again. Who knew the typing courses they made me take years ago would ever get any practical use?

Oh, and f-list? You are spammy peoples. I love you though. ♥

I'm listening to I'm From Barcelona, I love their sound by the way, so definitely check 'em out. Only problem is that since I'm been on such a Doctor Who kick recently I keep having to stifle the urge to say I'm listening to I'm From Barcelona (The planet, not the city)
Ahh fandom.

Okay, so there are other things going on in my life too, but I'm really getting sleepy at this point and I've actually managed to get a good deal in here. I've mentioned you all deserve medals for putting up with me, right?
Seeing as you do and I have no medals to give you, I'll give you the next best thing and shut up now. good night :D

Peace,
Ren.

Border problem and external stylesheet background
Hi, I'm having a couple of problems with an old layout that I'm recoloring for a new community [info]bon_temps_icons

I am at my witts end. I can't figure out how to get rid of the black border around my maincontent. I have tried everything I can think of and looked in some different tutorials and I'm at a loss. See here

Also, is there any way to have code for a tiled background and a header on an external stylesheet? I've looked through the community and I'm not able to find a tutorial for that. I put the URL for the background image in the cutomization area under styles>images, but when I linked to my external stylesheet I guess it over rode that background URL.

I want this background tiled under my layout. layout background

link to my external stylesheet

I hope I linked to my external stylesheet correctly. If not, please let me know how to fix that.

Thank you so much for any help.

[Tanaka Roma] DAYBREAK (mini album)
As soon as I listened to Tanaka Roma's latest mini-album DAYBREAK, I knew he was gonna be one of my favorite artists. *_*

Born in San Francisco and a former professional dancer, Tanaka Roma has such a rich voice with typical pop songs. His style ranges from simple ballads to more upbeat happy romantic songs. He has sung in English a couple times as he is bilingual, but to be honest he sounds great in either language. I find myself enjoying his music a lot, so if you like this, let me know! I can upload more of his stuff. He's a great find and definitely deserves more exposure, so check him out. 8D

All file names are romanized and songs are titled in its original characters for your convenience. Album covers are always included in the zip, and the individual title track is up for sampling if there is one.

PLEASE COMMENT IF YOU DOWNLOAD. ♥ One comment would be enough if you're going back and downloading from other entries. We'd appreciate it if you bought the merchandise if you like what you hear. We have provided online links where you may buy it. Remember to support the artists, and enjoy the music! Feedback is always welcome, so we know what you guys like and what you thought about it. :3

New T-Shirts now available for PRE-ORDER!
Okay, now I'm am all set and ready to unveil to the two new Kawaii Not t-shirt designs...

It's creamy 'n' delicious... and full of balls! What more could you want in a drink? Or a t-shirt?
Based on this naughty, naughty strip.

(A note on this design: Between the voting and the e-mails I got regarding which text to put on this shirt, it was a tough decision. How did end with the above? It was the only one that looked right after I struggled with the design for the last week and a half. Please forgive me, ball-lovers... it was purely an aesthetic choice.)

Never freeze up at the coffee shop counter again! Just get the barista's attention, then point to your chest. Voila!*

*This probably won't work if you are NOT wearing this particular shirt. But then again, you never know.

Based on this poor, confused strip.

NOTES:

-- Bigger pictures and all ordering information can be found here.
-- Pre-order for both designs ends July 21st.
-- The women's style is a different brand than previous Kawaii Not shirts. A size chart is available here.

navigation
I want my header/navigation to be over the whole page of my layout. How would I do that.

07 July 2008 @ 11:59 pm

Can anybody please direct me as to how to make a direct link within the page.

For example, this community's page found HERE.

I want to find out how to make those cuts, so that once you click on the specified link, you'd be instantly dragged down to the cut. (If you don't understand what I mean, please click on any of the links such as 'Bad Family' and then you'll see that it directs you to the cut which is on the same page).

I'm sorry if I'm not allowed to post it here (please do not hesitate to delete), it's just that I know smooth sailing is one of the themes that have the comment pages. Thank you.

I am on Facebook now because all the cool kids are doing it.  Even my mom.  I can't let my mom be more trendy than me.  You know how it is.  Anyone else on there?  Friend me!  I am lonely!  I have been turning down the "friend collectors" though.  I think they were people who went to the same high school as me, but that I don't actually know in any way.  So they are not my friends.  I do like the Netflix & Goodreads integration applications though; now people can see what I'm reading and watching.  Though I don't know if I want everyone to know that Princess Tutu is at the top of my Netflix queue.  >.>

Also, Alan & Heather came and brought me Invader ZIM: The Complete Invasion!  YES.

Yup... I bought both.
Weird thing, anyone else think her belly button is absolutely adorable?

I just bought some paid time for a community I just made & I have a few questions. I haven't changed my own personal layout in a few years so I am a little rusty with lj's new system

1] How can I remove the user info (below the icon). I am the only one going to be posting in the community so I don't see the need to have my name popping up all over the place - Solved, thank u [info]wingweaver22

2] How can I add little images to the meta data (just like what I currently use). I won't have a mood theme set up, I'd just like to have those images - Solved, figured it out on my own

I think that's it for now, thanks

So this is how it feels to be twenty-four; a thief without a key to an open door
I've been waiting a long time to use those lyrics as a title.  XD

Today was a good day!  Melanie and I went to Carrabba's for my birthday lunch, and aside from some unpleasantness with some bad shrimp, had a fairly enjoyable time.  Then my fam went to see Hancock, which is a very good movie.  And not just because Will Smith is a total hottie (though that surely helped).  I went to Waldenbooks afterwards to use my birthday coupon; I was hoping for some of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Millennium World volumes I needed, but though they seem to be restocking and have new releases, they had no Yu-Gi-Oh.  D:  Then I looked for Rebel Angels, which I saw there last month, but they were all out.  I finally opted for Black Cat 13, because I have 1-12 and 14, but 13 came out during a time I was short on funds and I borrowed it from Melanie instead of buying it.  (By the way Melanie, did you know 15 is out???  I just noticed on my Amazon list that it's not a preorder anymore!)

After that, we all went to TGI Friday's.  I had the sizzling chicken and cheese, which is delicious AND allowed by my diet.  CHA-CHING.

As for prezzies, Eric got me a big amazing silver bangle bracelet!  Eric getting me jewelry completely blew my mind, especially because it was totally beautiful.  Go him, he will please a girlfriend someday.  XD  Tricia got me a Relient K CD that I didn't even know existed!  Then I got lots of books, because I am a nerd!  I got a nice boxed set of a translation of Journey to the West, Breaking Rank by Kristen Randle (actually the oldest thing on my Amazon wishlist - I added it in 2004), a book on Japanese particles, the Ursula K. Le Guin Worlds of Exile and Illusion trilogy, and an art book of Liz Lemon Swindle's Joseph Smith paintings.  Then!  My mom got me a Very Large Gift Card from New York & Company - there's not one around here, but there's one in Nampa so I can go shopping for new pants at Fandemonium in August!  Because you know, I will be super svelte and not fit into any of my current pants by then.

Oh!  Oh!  And Melanie made me FRUITS BASKET MANGA EARRINGS!  Vols 2 and 20, with Yuki and Machi!  They are teeny little manga books, with pages and everything!  SO CUTE.  And also a stuffed Puu, from Yu Yu Hakusho!  And he even SAYS "puuuu!"  He's not quite done yet, so I had to give him back, but I will post pictures when he is completed.  And I can post pics of the earrings when it's not dark.

Anyway, now I am full of chicken and cheese, and we are waiting for Alan and Heather to get here.  They are bringing me another present.  ;D  The only downside of today is that I have no cake.  D:  Cake will have to wait for another day!  Time to go to Goodreads and add all my new books to my to-read list.  :D :D :D

PS- And by the way, Manga Takeout didn't send me Yurara OR Absolute Boyfriend.  -___-

The new t-shirt designs, they shall unveil themselves tomorrow!*

*It would have been today, but I somehow screwed up the coding for the order page so much that I needed to get up from the computer, take a few deep breaths, break stuff... and then try again.

So, standard operating procedure, really.

2008: Book 08
Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell
Pages: 960

My Rating:
5/5

As you can probably imagine, there is nothing I can say to describe this American classic in its entirety. What starts off as a slow, intimidating read jumps soon enough into one of the most unforgettable stories I've ever read. I think the nature of this book that puts some people off is what made me love this book even more, because the many characters in its story are just so imperfectly human. Not only this, but the character development is absolutely amazing and completely realistic. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for something substantial to read, and wants something more than a fairytale. While some may have seen the (amazing) film and have not read the book, I highly recommend picking it up because the book is even better.
